CASE, Titan Machinery and Sonsray Machinery Provide Equipment for Wildfire Cleanup Operation

CASE Construction Equipment, and heavy equipment dealers Titan Machinery and Sonsray Machinery, donated the use of skid steers, a compact track loader and an excavator to veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon for Operation Big Iron — a disaster cleanup operation in response to the “Tinder Fire”, which swept across more than 500 acres in Coconino County, Arizona.

Team Rubicon volunteers provided heavy equipment operations, debris removal and sawyer services to affected communities. The organization deployed 40 members who logged a total of 2,592 hours on the operation. Team Rubicon’s heavy equipment operators used the equipment to help move more than 54,130 cubic feet of debris. Volunteers saved the community an estimated total of $74,784.38 in cleanup, materials and labor.

CASE, Folcomer Equipment and Groff Tractor Work with Team Rubicon to Improve Erosion Control and Natural Habitats at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

CASE Construction Equipment, Folcomer Equipment and Groff Tractor provided equipment and product/training support to veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon for use in training 10 new participants in its heavy equipment training program. The training included course work, and then practical operation in laying riprap for erosion control and spreading topsoil to encourage growth of the natural habitat for wildlife at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Cambridge, MD. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Blackwater NWR protects approximately 28,000 acres of tidal marshlands and woodlands for the benefit of wildlife species.

Team Rubicon is training its members in the safe use and maintenance of heavy equipment for its disaster response operations. Folcomer Equipment provided a SR240 skid steer, and Groff Tractor supplied a CX75C SR excavator to the effort. The partnership between CASE, Team Rubicon and the National Wildlife Refuge Association dates back to November 2015 when the three organizations began working together to complete training and project work. Other refuge training projects have been completed in Texas, California and Washington, with additional training taking place at sites throughout the country. Eventually, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service hopes that about 100 Team Rubicon members will be available to refuges for heavy equipment work and hundreds more available as volunteers for service projects across the country.

CASE 1021F Carries Heavy Load at Granite Pit for Largest Chip Seal Contractor in Wisconsin

Scott Construction Inc., Lake Delton, Wis., is one of Wisconsin’s leading asphalt surfacing companies, and the largest chip seal contractor in the state. To support the amount of chip seal work the company performs throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota (regional suppliers couldn’t keep up with the demand), the company began mining granite out of the new Pine Valley Quarry (Neillsville, Wis.) in 2015.

With the new quarry, Scott Construction can control quality and access to its chip seal products. The company shoots raw granite and crushes it down down to 5/8-inch minus, and then screens it and crushes it down again to ½-inch minus. The company then washes that and crushes it down to 3/8-inch and ¼-inch minus product. The remaining byproduct is then used for hot mix and concrete.
