Kicking the Yellow Bucket – The Importance of Using OEM Filters and Lubricants

Emissions trends over recent years have driven machine innovation – stricter emission regulations, new fuels, common-rail fuel systems and the need for cleaner fuel are all driving the need for improved filtration technology.

Today’s machines are engineered to the highest performance standards—each machine is a highly engineered system of complex working parts, which should be maintained by only using genuine filters and lubricants to ensure continued optimal performance. Using non-OEM-specified filters and lube creates a weak link in the system, and can compromise the performance of a machine.

CASE Celebrates 60 Years of Wheel Loader Manufacturing in 2018

CASE Construction Equipment will celebrate its 60th anniversary of wheel loader production with a variety of promotions and activities throughout the year. The activities start at World of Concrete 2018 where the first 500 people who visit the CASE booth (C5748) will receive a commemorative CASE t-shirt celebrating the milestone.

The current offering of CASE wheel loaders evolved from the W9, the first CASE integrated four-wheel drive wheel loader introduced in 1958. The W10 and W12 four-wheel drive models and the front-drive W5 loader soon followed. The W series grew through the 1960’s and 1970s, including the mammoth 15-ton W26 articulated loader, introduced in 1968. It was the largest wheel loader offered at the time, boasting a 3-yard standard bucket. The 4-yard W36 arrived in 1977. The W series loaders all featured cabs mounted on the front half of the machine.

CASE G Series Wheel Loaders Win 2017 Good Design™ Award for Design Excellence

Launched in 2016, CASE G Series wheel loaders have been honored with the prestigious Good DesignAward in the Industrial Category from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

CASE Construction Equipment received the Good Design Award for its G-Series wheel loaders – the latest generation of the brand’s proven product line, which introduced a revolutionary windshield design and raised the bar on operator comfort when launched in 2016.

The Pre- and Post-Operation Equipment Inspection Checklist

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – old Ben Franklin wasn’t a heavy equipment operator or fleet manager, but he might as well have been when he first said those famous words.

The following list leans on Franklin’s wisdom. By taking the following steps each day pre- and post-operation, equipment owners and operators will prevent bad things from happening before they turn into costly downtime events, and will ensure that fleet managers can address concerns in equipment health and upkeep at times throughout the day with the least impact on productivity.

CASE Adds 650M Dozer to M Series Lineup

CASE Construction Equipment announces the 650M—the latest dozer in the M-Series lineup. Replacing the popular 650L, the 74-horsepower dozer has been updated with all of the hallmarks of the CASE M-Series dozers, including a Tier 4 Final FPT engine with Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) technology. The new 650M also features an enhanced undercarriage with improved track frame, idler, sprockets, rollers and extended-life SALT HD tracks, as well as a reinforced mainframe. Like all M-Series dozers, the 650M comes standard with CASE ProCare for added uptime protection.

CASE M-Series dozers also offer best-in-class drawbar pull, increased horsepower ratings, improved fuel efficiency, industry-leading visibility, customizable controls and pressurized isolation-mounted cabs for optimal comfort.

CASE Boosts C Series Line with All-New CX30C Mini Excavator

CASE Construction Equipment introduces the CX30C to its C Series line of mini excavators. With an operating weight of 6,020-pounds and a 24.8 horsepower Tier 4 Final engine, the CX30C boasts a bucket digging force of 4,520 pounds of force.

This new offering expands the CASE mini excavator lineup to its broadest range of sizes ever, and provides a more comprehensive and feature-driven compact excavator solution to the landscaping, construction, utility and rental markets.

The Operational Benefits of Combi Rollers

Asphalt compaction practices vary from contractor-to-contractor and region-to-region — larger asphalt paving projects generally rely on some combination of double-drum vibratory and pneumatic tire rollers to complete the work. The double-drum vibratory compactor provides the brute force of compaction while the pneumatic tire roller provides varied weight through ballasting, and a kneading action that results in excellent density, fewer voids and a well-sealed finish.

The continued adoption of combi rollers — a vibratory steel drum on the front and a sequence of pneumatic tires on the back — has provided another option for paving contractors that ultimately delivers the best attributes of each standalone design.

CASE SV340 Skid Steer Earns Top 50 Award from Equipment Today Magazine

The SV340 skid steer from CASE Construction Equipment earned a slot on Equipment Today magazine’s 2017 Contractors’ Top 50 New Products list. The editorial teams from Equipment Today and ForConstructionPros.com compiled product inquiries and web page views, and inquiries from new products featured in Equipment Today over a 12-month period from May 2016 to April 2017. The result is the 2017 Contractors’ Top 50 New Products, a listing of the industry’s favored products.

With a rated operating capacity of 3,400-pounds and bucket breakout force of 9,531-pounds, the 90-horsepower SV340 is CASE’s most powerful skid steer ever built. The SV340 offers optional high-flow (38.7 gpm at 3,450 psi) and enhanced high-flow (35 gpm at 4,000 psi) auxiliary hydraulics for operating a broad range of high capacity attachments such as cold planers and mulching heads. Heavy-duty 14 x 17.5 tires, additional counterweights and a long wheelbase provide a stable platform for work in all terrains.

Backhoe Maintenance 101

While backhoes are a staple in many large fleets where they are cared for by a full-time fleet manager, they are equally – if not more so – widespread among owner/operators and smaller businesses where the person operating the machine is also the one performing maintenance on it, hauling it, site foreman, lunch gofer, etc.

Even in those large fleets, where they may have “a guy” who performs all the maintenance, there are actions that operators can take in their day-to-day activities that will have a long-term effect on the health and performance of the machine.
