580 EV Electric Backhoe Loader Earns Innovative Iron Award

The CASE 580 EV, the construction industry’s first fully electric backhoe loader, has been honored with a 2020 Innovative Iron Award from Compact Equipment magazine.

The awards are presented annually, highlighting the most inventive off-highway equipment, diesel engines, hand tools and OEM services and systems released to the market.

Specialty Uses for Backhoe Loaders

A backhoe loader truly is one of the most versatile pieces of equipment available—whether it’s on the jobsite, in a disaster response situation or a variety of other specialty applications. CASE has recently introduced several enhancements to the N Series line of backhoe loaders—improvements to the cab and drivetrain, as well as enhancements to the electrical and hydraulic systems—that make these already versatile machines even more robust and productive.

We’ve made several features standard that were only options before, like our fuel economy package, which includes ECO mode switches for both the loader and backhoe functions, allowing for greater fuel savings, as well as optimal power and performance. CASE N Series backhoe loaders now feature an all-new Pilot Control hydraulic system for optimal precision and smoothness, offering the operator more control in applications where precision is critical.

Working Smarter — Not Harder — With the Right Landscape Attachments

It’s all about labor and time savings with these landscaping attachments.

When talking about attachments, we often start with the fact that the machine — whether it’s a skid steer, a compact track loader (CTL), a backhoe or a wheel loader — is the base platform that allows the owner/operator to do a job. The base purchase of that machine comes with a standard bucket, which is great for many applications.

Rent vs. Buy: Attachment Edition

The rent vs. purchase equation is discussed at length in the landscaping industry—but the conversation is most often geared towards the primary equipment platform: the skid steer, the mini ex, etc. The decision to rent or purchase attachments and other ancillary equipment shares many of the same financial considerations, and there are several factors that help a business owner determine whether it makes more sense to rent or purchase attachments.

There is no right answer that will work for every business owner. Each individual should look at factors such as cash flow, taxes, estimated utilization rates, as well as associated costs like maintenance, depreciation and resale values. Additional factors include the size of the operation and the types of jobs and applications in which the attachment will be used.

TechTalk: CASE Pro Control

Only CASE backhoes offer standard Pro Control (optional on the 580N EP), an anti-rebound feature that helps complete the swing of the boom at the exact point and location the operator desires, saving time associated with corrective measures and helping to minimize spillage.
