True total cost of ownership (TCO) is determined by factoring in everything that goes into operating that machine over its lifetime: initial purchase price, fuel costs, maintenance costs, utilization, organizational overhead, resale value, etc.

When you talk about total cost of ownership for rental companies, it has to play into their rental rate calculation as well as the return on investment, or return on asset, more so than just the purchase price of the machine. So if one brand has an advantage—and it may be something as simple as Brand A’s oil change interval is 500 hours, and Brand B’s is 2,000 hours—if you start extrapolating that over the duration of ownership, that starts to add up. Specifically for the rental side, all of those costs have to roll up into a profitable rental rate. Then you look at taxes and depreciation and retail value, auction value, things like that.

CASE Announces North American Dealer Network Expansion, Additions

CASE, F&W Equipment Provide Equipment Support for Tornado Cleanup

CASE Construction Equipment and heavy equipment dealer F&W Equipment provided veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon with equipment for use as part of Operation Cedar Crest, a cleanup operation spurred by three EF-1 tornadoes and one microburst that touched down on May 15, 2018 in Connecticut. The severe weather left more that 150,000 residents without power and blocked more than 428 roads.

Team Rubicon deployed 44 members to the affected site, totaling 1,068 hours of volunteer work and 75,000 feet of debris moved. Team Rubicon brought the community a potential savings of $31,600 in materials and labor.

CASE, Titan Machinery and Sonsray Machinery Provide Equipment for Wildfire Cleanup Operation

CASE Construction Equipment, and heavy equipment dealers Titan Machinery and Sonsray Machinery, donated the use of skid steers, a compact track loader and an excavator to veteran-led disaster response organization Team Rubicon for Operation Big Iron — a disaster cleanup operation in response to the “Tinder Fire”, which swept across more than 500 acres in Coconino County, Arizona.

Team Rubicon volunteers provided heavy equipment operations, debris removal and sawyer services to affected communities. The organization deployed 40 members who logged a total of 2,592 hours on the operation. Team Rubicon’s heavy equipment operators used the equipment to help move more than 54,130 cubic feet of debris. Volunteers saved the community an estimated total of $74,784.38 in cleanup, materials and labor.

CASE Construction Equipment Named Among Suppliers/Contractors to Work on Foxconn Development

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and a delegation of business leaders, elected officials, contractors and Foxconn representatives today named CASE Construction Equipment among the 27 state contractors and suppliers who will perform work on the new Foxconn development in Racine County, Wis. The announcement, made on a statewide tour Monday that culminated in an event at CASE headquarters in Racine, was made in support of efforts to ensure Wisconsin suppliers and contractors take a prominent role in the construction project.

The $10 billion manufacturing site planned for Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is estimated to create 10,000 construction jobs each year for the next four years. M+W | Gilbane, the lead contractor on the project, announced at an event in April that 90 percent of contractors for the initial site work would come from the state of Wisconsin, with a total of 10 percent coming from Racine County.

CASE and Michigan Dealers Donate Equipment to Team Rubicon and Habitat for Humanity for Urban Renewal/Recovery Project

CASE Construction Equipment, RPM Machinery, Southeastern Equipment, Habitat for Humanity of Kent County and Team Rubicon teamed up for a heavy equipment operator training and socio-economic improvement project—named Operation Fearless Mary—in the Roosevelt Park neighborhood of Grand Rapids, Michigan. RPM Machinery and Southeastern Equipment donated the use of several skid steers and excavators, while Team Rubicon brought in 72 volunteers and 20 new members from across the U.S. for the operation.

For Team Rubicon — an organization that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams for disaster relief — this kind of training/community service operation prepares their volunteers for operating heavy equipment during deployments, and helps to solidify the humanitarian and relationship-building skills that are crucial in disaster response scenarios. A key component is Team Rubicon’s partnership with CASE, which provides both training and heavy equipment through its dealer network.

Southeastern Equipment Donates CTLs to Team Rubicon for Neighborhood Revitalization Project in Detroit

CASE Construction Equipment dealer Southeastern Equipment Co. Inc. donated the use of two TR310 compact track loaders with grapple buckets to Team Rubicon for Operation Joe Louis—an urban blight response project in Detroit, Michigan. Team Rubicon has worked in partnership with the City of Detroit’s Motor City Make-Over event—an annual citywide volunteer cleanup and beautification initiative—and Herman Kiefer Development LLC, to clean up the Herman Kiefer Hospital complex and neighborhood by conducting damage assessments, debris management and home repairs in the area.

Team Rubicon brought in over 100 volunteers and training personnel from around the U.S. to assist local residents in the cleanup effort of their properties, as well as any vacant or abandoned properties adjacent to occupied structures. The CASE TR310 CTLs were used in debris management initiatives during the project, including the removal of fallen or dangerous trees, trash, overgrowth and the consolidation of debris and refuse, as well as the demolition of several garages and other outbuildings.
